Offset8, an Abu Dhabi-based environmental organization, and iRise, a tech and sustainability company, have unveiled an ambitious initiative to restore 10 million trees in Malawi. This extensive reforestation project, which will be executed over the next decade, aims to address both environmental and socio-economic challenges in the Southern African nation.

The initiative marks a significant collaboration between technology and conservation, with Offset8 focusing on the reforestation efforts and iRise contributing through innovative tech solutions to enhance monitoring and management of the project. The effort is projected to benefit approximately 150,000 Malawians, primarily through improved environmental conditions, enhanced local biodiversity, and increased economic opportunities.

The reforestation project is expected to rejuvenate vast tracts of deforested land in Malawi, where deforestation has had severe impacts on biodiversity and local livelihoods.
